Arkansas PBS is seeking an educator to join our award-winning education department as an Education Program Coordinator. This position will join our team in developing online professional learning opportunities for teachers and other adult learners and in coordinating and creating standards-aligned classroom resources to accompany children’s programming. Prior experience using an online learning management system is preferred, as well as experience creating classroom resources aligned with academic standards. This position demands a positive and constructive view of working with others.  There will be a high percentage of time spent listening to, understanding, and successfully working with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds to achieve “win-win” outcomes. 

 

This position will also include leadership and supervisory responsibilities for educational initiatives as a team lead, and the supervision of a team of 3-4 individuals providing customer service support to educators and other adult learners utilizing our learning management system for professional development.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Working on a collaborative team to create professional development for Arkansas teachers
  • Collaborates with Arkansas Department of Education personnel, video production staff, IT personnel, and subject matter experts during stages of course creation as needed
  • Assists team members in the course creation process by participating in peer review
  • Assists in the maintenance and upkeep of available courses and the learning management system
  • Accepts and provides feedback within iterative publishing processes
  • Compile information and coordinate the writing creation of curriculum materials and classroom resources to accompany children’s programming
  • Ensures all resources created are aligned with appropriate Arkansas Academic Standards, are of high quality, and are published according to scheduled deadlines
  • Accepts and provides feedback within iterative publishing processes
  • Leadership and supervisory responsibilities include supervising a team of 3-4 individuals providing customer service support to educators and other adult learners utilizing our learning management system for professional development
  • Research, develop, evaluate, revise and present online training programs and courses
  • Develop and present ideas, information, and training programs to large, diverse groups

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • The formal equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in education, special education, or a related field
  • Three years of experience in a related educational or program field, including one year in a supervisory or leadership capacity
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws regarding teacher licensure
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of online learning management systems
  • Exceptional writing skills
  • Knowledge of teaching principles and methods.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teacher Certification (current or prior)
  • Knowledge of educational principles and learning concepts
  • Experience working with online learning and/or training providers (Totara, Moodle, etc.)

Salary Range: $45,010.00 - $71,792.00

Summary

The Education Program Coordinator is responsible for managing, training, and coordinating the activities of volunteers for various educational programs. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Functions

Supervises a professional and administrative support staff by interviewing applicants, making hire or termination recommendations, training, assigning and reviewing work, and evaluation the performance of incumbents. Develops, monitors, and conducts education and training programs designed to train volunteers for various educational programs and participates in the presentation of special interest seminars. Writes and reviews information designed to communicate to the public through programs, media, and other communication outlets concerning educational programs and regulation requirements. Provides technical assistance with the design and development of education training aids and materials. Designs, develops, and maintains exhibits and information booths at special events and activities such as school career day activities and fairs. Performs special research projects and provides technical information and assistance to various colleges, high schools, and the general public. Visits community leaders and school administrators to evaluate the implementation and effectiveness of the various programs. Develops and oversees annual budgets for programs within the assigned region. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a related area, including three years of experience in education, volunteer management, or education, or related field including one year in a supervisory or leadership capacity. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
