Summary

The Conway Human Development Center (CHDC) Laundry Operations Manager is responsible for managing laundry operations, performing minor maintenance, and ordering supplies. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Functions

Directs the activities of a large laundry staff by interviewing and recommending for hire, training employees, planning work schedules, assigning and reviewing work, maintaining time and leave sheets, counseling employees, and evaluating the performance of incumbents. Coordinates, monitors, and evaluates laundry operations by maintaining logs, check sheets, and inventory, and by conducting on-site inspections to ensure items are properly collected, laundered, and delivered. Prepares various reports on laundry operations. Performs minor maintenance on laundry equipment and contacts repairman for major equipment breakdown. Orders and inventories supplies. Formulates budget request for the laundry section. Serves as a representative on various institutional committees on infection control and client safety. Supervises ancillary services section in manager's absence. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of laundry operations and equipment. Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of lower-level supervisors and/or subordinates. Ability to maintain adequate laundry supplies and inventory records. Ability to prepare written reports.

Minimum Qualifications

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus four years of experience in laundry operations or a related field, including one year in a supervisory capacity.
