Salary Range: $23,335.00 - $33,836.00

Summary

The Baker is responsible for performing bakery operations and maintaining and cleaning bakery equipment. This position is governed by state and federal laws, regulations, and agency policy.

Functions

  • Performs bakery operations, including preparing breads, pastries, and/or desserts, calculating needed amounts of baked goods, ensuring accurate measurements of recipe quantities, labeling and storing leftover bakery items, and ordering weekly supplies.
  • Maintains supplies by inventorying baking pans and staple ingredients on hand and requesting new supplies.
  • Cleans bakery equipment including ovens, bakery coolers, freezers, and doughnut machines.
  • Assists with serving meals to residents and/or the general public, as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the methods of baking and preparing food.
  • Knowledge of sanitation and safety requirements of a food service facility.
  • Ability to understand and follow recipes and oral instructions.
  • Ability to operate equipment used in baking.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.

Minimum Qualifications

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus two years of experience in institutional baking or a related field.
