This position supervises the operation of a 90-room lodge with 114-seat restaurant and 300-seat convention center complex.  The Lodge Manager supervises the work of a large-sized service and maintenance staff by interviewing applicants, making hire or termination decisions, assigning and reviewing work, and training and evaluating the performance of incumbents.  Other job duties include supervising the coordination of facility activities, preparing reports on business activities, revenue projections, cost control, and inventory control, providing information to customers and the public on facility services and functions, and performing related responsibilities as required or assigned.  This position is subject to 24-hour call, 7 days a week and may be required to work holidays, weekends, evenings, and some nights.  A criminal background check and a driver’s record check are required.

Applicants must meet or exceed the following qualifications: The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in business, hospitality, parks and recreation, or a related field, plus five years of experience in hotel/motel management, including at least three years’ experience in supervision. Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee.

Summary

The Lodge Manager is responsible for oversight and management of all operational areas of the facility. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Functions

Monitors facility for compliance with the Arkansas Department of Health regulations, as well as all applicable state and federal rules, policies and procedures. Conducts routine inspection of facility for cleanliness and maintenance, and approves the activities, expenditures, and work hours of the lodge staff. Plans, monitors, and approves budget proposals and expenditures, including capital equipment requests, justifications, and resale. Completes operational reports, monitors inventory records, collects payments, and records data pertaining to funds and expenditures. Answers inquiries pertaining to hotel policies and services, and resolves visitor complaints. Meets with civic leaders and special interest groups to exchange information, promote the park, and solve problems. Provides daily supervision and training to exempt and non-exempt personnel. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of state purchasing practices and procedures. Knowledge of the principles of hospitality, restaurant, and retail operations. Ability to communicate information and ideas to a diverse group of people. Ability to understand and prepare records and reports, including cash receipts, daily transactions, and inventory control. Ability to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, or standards governing the hospitality industry. Ability to organize and present clear and concise oral and written reports of findings and recommendations. Ability to utilize computer software and hardware.

Minimum Qualifications

Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
