SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be registered as a Peer in Training and working towards Peer Support Specialist certification - OR - Be a Certified Peer Support Specialist;
- Be trained in the Arkansas State Peer Specialist Model;
- Experience in working with Youth in a juvenile system;
- Experience working with individuals with substance use issues;
- Be able to work independently and organize their own schedule;
- Experience in working on a multidisciplinary team;
- Be able to travel throughout the state;
- Overnight stay may be required within the state;
- Must have a valid driver's license, current auto insurance and meet the eligibility requirements to be covered by the state insurance policy. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle safely and according to applicable laws.
JOB SUMMARY, DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) is an active member of the Treatment Team and provides peer support services to individuals with substance use disorders, under the supervision of a Peer Recovery Peer Supervisor (PRPS). Peer Recovery Support Specialist will work in collaboration with and provide guidance to programs on Recovery Services. Peer Recovery Support Specialist will function as a role model to individuals; exhibiting competency in personal recovery and use of life skills; and will serve as a recovery advocate, providing information and peer support for individuals in outpatient and inpatient settings. The PRSS performs a wide range of tasks to assist individuals of all ages in regaining independence within the community and mastery over their own recovery process. Approved Recovery resources may be utilized by the PRSS in the provision of services.

Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in social work, sociology, public administration or a related field; plus one year of experience in a behavioral health program.
