Position Summary

 

The Program Supervisor primary role is to review the following reports for accuracy and to take action: Claims Filed Report, Pending Non-Mon Report, BYE Report, New Hire Cross Match, Appeals, ID Scanner, CNOW, and Employer Response.  The Reports Supervisors may also assist in processing UI claims by following written policy and procedures.  Additional duties include keying forms, creating wage review requests, answering UI Service Center related emails, and other special projects assigned by management.

 

Education and Professional Work Experience

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in business management, general business, or related field, plus two years of experience in the programs being supervised or a related field.

 

Preferred Qualification

 

One (1) year experience working with the Unemployment Insurance program and intensive knowledge of system and program processes and terminology, and experience with conducting business via telephone and/or email.

Job Responsibilities and Expected Results

 

  1. Works reports and take any action needed.
  2. Assist with processing UI claims if needed.
  3. Determine eligibility for services by reviewing claims, forms completed, and work history.
  4. Detects, investigates, and sets claims issues.
  5. Requests claimant wages for out-of-state, federal, and military wages.
  6. Investigates wages not reported or reported in error.
  7. Research claims to detect issues and problems and gather needed information to allow claim to be processed.
  8. May assist with hotline overflow to answer questions from claimants, the public, or employers regarding UI.  This requires basic knowledge of UI processes and procedures and a level of critical thinking to apply state or federal law.
  9. Enters information in system, scan, and image documents into system.
  10. Receives, reviews, and processes incoming documents.
  11. Verifies identity of claimants, including verifying non-citizens’ work authorization.
  12. Responds to inquiries and requests from other ADWS UI units about individual claims.
  13. Handle any UI inquiries from the UI Hotline email account.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Summary

The Department of Workforce Services (DWS) Program Supervisor is responsible for managing DWS programs. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Functions

Manages all local office DWS program operations by setting work priorities, reviewing work of staff, acting as lead resource person for the assigned programs and ensuring programs are administered in a timely manner. Supervises office staff operations, and participates in the selection of staff. Interprets and applies United States Department of Labor and Arkansas laws, regulations and policies affecting the programs. Trains staff concerning changes in DWS policies and services. Maintains employer relations in the community by speaking to employers and organizations and serving on boards of local community action agencies, advisory committees, chambers of commerce, and workforce boards. Reviews office program operations for delivery of services that ensure proper program enrollments and suitable outcomes. Compiles reports, correspondence, and records regarding program operations. Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned.

Knowledge of United States Department of Labor statutes and regulations and Arkansas laws, rules, and regulations governing DWS programs and services. Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations governing employment security programs. Knowledge of skills assessment techniques. Knowledge of workforce development principles and practices. Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures. Ability to interpret state and federal laws and regulations governing employment security programs. Ability to plan, organize, and oversee the work of subordinates. Ability to make public presentations. Ability to communicate information in written form regarding employment security program policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
