Typical Functions:  Lead maintenance teams by delegating tasks, providing guidance, and monitoring performance in order to meet daily and long-term maintenance goals. Oversee wastewater treatment plants and the scheduling and execution of both reactive repairs and preventative parkwide maintenance projects. Negotiate, coordinate, and maintain relationships with external service providers and contractors, ensuring quality service and cost-effectiveness. Review and manage contracts related to maintenance and repair services. Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance schedules and preventative maintenance programs aimed at reducing downtime and extending equipment lifecycles. Analyze maintenance data and trends to identify areas for process improvements and operational efficiencies. Prepare detailed performance reports, work order statuses, and maintenance cost analyses for upper management. Assist in budgeting and tracking expenses related to maintenance operations. Ensure that all maintenance activities conform to state and federal safety regulations as well as internal policies. Coordinate regular safety inspections and audits and lead safety training sessions for the maintenance team.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:  Proficiency with maintenance management software (e.g., computerized maintenance management systems) and advanced Microsoft Office skills. Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities and the capacity to work independently. Capacity to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and walking on various surfaces, which are common in maintenance duties.

Minimum Qualifications:  High school diploma or GED. Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in maintenance coordination or facilities management, demonstrating expertise in handling complex maintenance projects. Satisfaction of the minimum qualifications, including years of experience and service, does not entitle employees to automatic progression within the job series. Promotion to the next classification level is at the discretion of the department and the Office of Personnel Management, taking into consideration the employee’s demonstrated skills, competencies, performance, workload responsibilities, and organizational needs.

Job Summary

The Maintenance Coordinator is a more experienced, senior role focused on leading and optimizing maintenance operations across a facility or multiple locations. This classification involves advanced coordination responsibilities such as overseeing complex work orders, managing vendor relationships, supervising a team of maintenance personnel, and implementing strategic maintenance initiatives. The Maintenance Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for maintenance issues, ensuring operational efficiency and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
